yea click the link itl explain it a lil better than me. its basiclly a petition to get akai to make the os for the mpc 500 open source so other programmers can freely make there own os for it ( like jjos ) since the 500 is plagued with so many problems os wise and making it open source will give so much more use out of the 500 and even other future / past models. but akai basiclly shit on there customers and offer useless support unless you buy a 5000 an they dont seem to realise that the only reason peeps buy 1000s an 2500s is for that jjos coz its so much better than the factory standard os but they wont let it happen for the 500 or other models probaly think thel loose money or just dont want other companys to steal there ideas which is stupid. akai just went downhill once they merged with numark/alesis if you ask me. its a pipe dream for a lot of mp users but anything we can do to make akai hook up better support an products im on board with lol.

i reckon it is theres just some bugs in the new os like sometimes you might loose a sample or it might not load right thers a list on mpc forums but i find it not so bad i use it daily just depends how u use it really. its a smaller machine so its not designed to handle the same massive workload as say the 2500 but a better os will fix any bugs i use my 2000xl way more than 500 tho

yea 500 is just a smaller mpc its portable you can run it on batterys and it has 12 mpc 1000 size pads. but you can sample into an do all the same mpc things its just got a smaller screen and lacks a few things like you cant see the wav your editing on screen you gota chop samples by ear and by numbers not hard at all and it doesnt have autochop still a good machine but if your buying your 1st mpc go with a 1000 or a 2000xl cant go wrong there.
